Deansgate Square

Deansgate Square

Deansgate Square (Owen Street) is the newest addition to Manchester’s skyline. An ambitious new build asserting itself as the tallest building in the city, and the 2nd tallest in the United Kingdom; accommodating 1508 rooms of varying size.

This luxurious residential build is equipped with an array of amenities and features, including a tennis court, gym facilities, retail units and a 20 x 8.5 pool. This impressive feat will be complemented by state of the art technology throughout the build, including AngelEye Drowning Detection System to provide protection and peace of mind for the residents. The system composed of underwater AngelEye camera’s complete with LED lighting, as well as one above water video camera and accompanying palm and watch devices, to ensure all residents are safe at all times.

One shared pain-point of residential builds is the difficulty associated with enforcing pool opening hours, requiring staff to constantly monitor the area. AngelEye actively monitors access control and alerting staff to lone bather risk.

Scope: Deansgate is a new and exciting addition to the Manchester skyline. SPSC UK was tasked with future-proofing and safeguarding the new build pool by installing the latest in Drowning Detection Technology.

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom

SPSC absolutely exceeded our expectation. While the project was a new build and we did not have any existing concerns, SPSC were always there to answer all of our questions. They went above and beyond to make sure that the adoption of the new technology was seamless for the team. The training we received was invaluable.

Our Solution

Deansgate embodies SPSC’s approach to safety, combining cutting-edge technology with a thorough understanding of safety needs. The focus of the project was on optimising both operational and safety protocols by introducing continuous monitoring of the pool area while enabling responders to remain mobile. Direct alerts to smartwatches allow responders to monitor the pool and respond when needed.

From a managerial perspective a drowning detection system has been invaluable. My team are expected to be in a million places at once, and with the DDS we can fully dedicate ourselves to the clients and while having a peace of mind.
